Professor of SociologyMy playlist includes some of my favorite artists, pulled from albums I have enjoyed for many years and newer releases. Selecting just 10 songs was hard to do, but it was also a lot of fun. Anyone who loves music should take a turn in the KTRU DJ booth.

Executive Division Administrator, Office of the Dean of UndergraduatesThere were so many songs I wish I could have shared, but on this program, I was inspired to include songs from my youth that featured local artists from Houston, Texas, and from my heritage - Ukraine. Katharine Shilcutt is a fabulous interviewer, and I enjoyed my experience at KTRU, which was on my bucket list since I was 10. Thank you, Katharine, for making my dream come true!

Executive Director, Center for Career DevelopmentThis playlist draws on many chapters in my life - ranging from high school, college, kids, work, and up to today. Each is tied to either a meaningful person in my life or a particular event, or a lesson that I have drawn upon. Like my life, there are many genres in the playlist which echo my stages in life.

Talent Acquisition Specialist, Human ResourcesThe inspiration for my playlist was really based on growing up, what I heard at different times in my life, and the memories associated with each- which is why it was kind of all over the place.

Study Abroad AdvisorMy intention behind the playlist is that all these songs have a story, a memory, behind them for me, and if given the chance I could talk about each for a whole hour! I have arranged the playlist in such a way that we start off with slow heartfelt songs to cry to, then we start to overcome that sadness and feel more upbeat and happy, and the only way to celebrate the end of our journey is to throw a dance party. This playlist was inspired by how my different moods dictate what type of music I want to listen to since my taste in music....is kind of all over the place haha!

Administrative Operations Specialist, Health and Wellbeing OfficeWhen I got the chance to curate a playlist to share with the Rice community I knew it wasn’t going to be easy to pick just 10 songs (considering my Favorites playlist on Spotify is 5,000+ songs and growing!) so I decided I should start from the earliest music I remember listening to at home to some of my current favorites. I wanted to bring an upbeat and energizing feel with music that valued humanity and individuality as a message. It was such a fun experience getting to share some of my favorite music and we even got a couple calls into the booth saying how much they appreciated the energy! I’m looking forward to being more involved with KTRU and perhaps even guest DJing again soon.

Executive Director, Center for Civic LeadershipI chose to put together a playlist of all women artists whose messages inspire a commitment to social change while also celebrating joy, self-confidence, and turning to others for support. I had so much fun putting the playlist together and then slowly revising it several times over, and sharing it with Katharine during the DUG Hour. Sharing music and conversation while bragging about my team at the CCL was probably one of the highlights of my year!

Vice President and General CounselDrawing heavily on my repeated exploitation of Columbia House's 10-CDs-for-one-dollar deal from the 1980s and 1990s, this is a collection of my favorites from different times in my life, including my upbringing as a first-generation American with Ecuadorian and Pakistani parents. Several of these tunes carry messages that inform the great work our legal team strives to do for Rice.

Senior Associate Provost for Strategic and Educational InitiativesMy play list featured songs from my band’s (The Action Cats) new EP, a song from a band that The Actions Cats admired, and a handful of songs from bands from the UK that I’m listening to now that I think have re-established guitar-driven indie rock as an exciting force in the rock music world.
